When it comes to buying all sorts of fabric in Dubai, Regal Fabric Gallery immediately comes to many people’s minds. They have become a go-to store for quality fabric sourcing in the UAE and Qatar.
Regal specialises in selling fabric for retail and wholesale, making them a supplier for both hobby-related and commercial fabric needs.
Their showroom is quite elaborate and you can easily see all the variety of items on offer. We particularly like the available colours and silk pieces they have on display and we think it will look good on most people’s wardrobes.
However, it did take a while for us to receive any form of assistance in the showroom. Staff are pretty stretched out so we think you may want to allocate some time when shopping.
You can also count on sales almost every month, which bring some of their pieces down to a more affordable price. You can keep an eye out for these sales on their website if you’re interested.
They have an in-house stitching and tailoring service available, especially men’s clothes and trousers. Unfortunately, results can be quite mixed when it comes to the pants they make.
Some customers we’ve spoken to enjoyed the tailoring they received while others noted down room for improvement so your results may vary.

York has been providing a lot of high-quality fabrics and textiles in the UAE since 1988. As such, they have accumulated a lot of experience in narrowing down the best products in the market.
At their store, you can browse an impressive collection of fabrics of varying colours. In our opinion, York probably has the biggest colour selection we’ve seen in one store among the different fabric stores we visited.
The showroom is quite decent, giving us a good look at the different products for sale without the lighting affecting the viewing experience as much.
However, we think they could improve on their phone-based and social media based messaging service. Many customers we’ve spoken to report the business taking a while to respond on Whatsapp or on the phone.
In our opinion, this makes it a bit harder to call ahead to check on stock availability so customers may want to rely on their website instead.
Parking is a little limited however, so you might want to come early or look for a nearby parking place to make your way on foot.
Fortunately, their home delivery process is quite good in our opinion so you can just order online and they will deliver the goods you ordered in a rather timely manner. Customers we’ve spoken to were quite satisfied with the speed of delivery too.
So if you need a number of traditional, high-quality fabrics delivered to your home, then York Furnishing is definitely a good store to try out.

Ultra Fabrics has been operating since 1990, building up a good collection of different fabric types that you can use to decorate your home. Their philosophy is to personally choose fabric styles that they don’t mind putting in their own home.
As such, they now have a collection of over 3,000 drapes and upholstery designs, weaved at composite mills that they’ve partnered with over the years.
You can get a good range of suede, plain patterns, and more complex textures that work well for various areas in the house. It’s also possible to get a good amount of durable fabric that can hold dyes a lot better under the intense Dubai weather.
Of course, patterns will vary a lot in price. While most plain textures are quite affordable, some of their more ornate items can lean on the expensive side.
In-store service is quite excellent, and they even have design consultants who can help beginners pick out some good colours and textures for their room.
However, we do want to point out that it took us some time to locate the studio itself. People more familiar with the area may not necessarily have that problem but we think we should point it out nonetheless.
If you’re in the area hunting for some good fabric styles and designs, you can’t go wrong with giving Ultra Fabrics a visit. We highly recommend checking out their studio.

Frequent shoppers in Dubai who are interested in gathering some really good fabrics will want to check out Salem Alta Moda located in the Dubai Mall.
Upon arriving at their store, you can easily view all of the fabric types and patterns that they have on offer.
The store is quite spacious on the inside though we do want to note that their physical store is a lot smaller than most other places we’ve visited. So we think it feels a bit cramped when more people are visiting the store.
In terms of fabric, they have a decent selection of materials and textures. In our opinion, their plain textures are quite nice and could really lend well to a whole host of different applications like clothes and curtains.
Still, they seem to specialise a lot in women’s dresses and fashion pieces. In our opinion, you may want to ask them if you wish to do something like a bridal or wedding theme.
Additionally, you can get ready-to-wear clothes though they did seem quite pricey when we initially asked around.
The biggest strength Salem Alta Moda has to offer though, is the sheer convenience. It’s located inside the Dubai Mall so it’s easy to locate and easy to visit.
Shoppers can easily pop in and buy the fabrics that they need while moving on to other items on their shopping list with ease such as food, equipment, and other tools that you can buy in the mall.

Of course, we can’t talk about fabric shops in Dubai without talking about the historic Bur Dubai neighbourhood. The Dubai Textile Souk is located just across the Dubai Creek, opening to a lot of vibrant stalls and storefronts for all your fabric needs.
You can either buy a range of ready-to-wear outfits and local clothes and of course, you can also buy a different variety of fabric so you can sew your own attire yourself.
Additionally, you can also buy things like buttons, stones, sequins, and other accessories. Nearly all of the items you need for making clothes are available in the store, which could make for a convenient shopping experience.
Stores vary a lot in terms of product selection and policy but, you might be able to haggle with some of the sellers, allowing you to score a good deal on some stores provided you are nice enough.
In our opinion, if you can make the trip and spend pretty much the whole day just browsing and haggling, you’ll be able to buy a lot of fabric types for your home.
Otherwise, busier people may want to avoid the larger crowd and the rather challenging store layouts in the traditional souk.
Fortunately, there’s a lot to see and enjoy in the souk and you can easily stop by the nearby restaurants and bars in the area in case you get tired.
Visiting Bur Dubai is an experience in and of itself so we really recommend people to give the place a visit at least once. Who knows, you may just find the piece that you need in one of the quieter stores around.
